To better promote culture exchange between Yunnan and Blekinge, our Office in kunming actively negotiated with related departments in Blekinge and Yunnan, and with the support of Yuxi Municipal Government, organized Yuxi NieEr Bamboo Orchestra to attend the Baltic Festival held in Karlshamn city in Blekinge, Sweden.

Baltic Festival is held annually, which is one of the largest free festivals in Sweden, and full of joys of summer. Every year people from all over the world visit the festival. This year, with the invitation from Division for Regional Economics and Development of Industry and Commerce County Administrative Board of Blekinge, the Office Chief Representative Ms He Meida took lead of the Yuxi Orchestra flying to Sweden and attending this year’s Festival from July 19 to 26.

This is the first time of such kind culture exchange between two provinces, which set out the example for future cooperation in culture area for two sides. Yuxi NieEr Bamboo Orchestra brought about 13 performances playing on the Festival, including Yunnan minority dances and songs, which were very welcome by local people.
As Lennart Olsson, Head of Division for Regional Economics and Development of Industry and Commerce, County Administrative Board of Blekinge, said, “we are amazing the performance you gave to the audience, everyone was very impressed and happy.”.
Rehearsal
During the delegation staying in Blekinge, the delegation was welcomed by Governor of Blekinge, Madam Gunvor Engström, and other people including, Mr. Lennart, Mr.matthesen, the Deputy Governor, Madam Susan, the Former Governor and current parliamentarian. They all showed great interest in Yunnan ethnic minority culture performed by the Orchestra.

This pilot culture exchange visit make two countries people get to know each other better. It’s a great chance to learn about Yunnan and its ethnic minority groups. Our Office will explore more opportunities to promote both sides cooperation in culture areas.
